Self Guided Tour 1: University Architecture and Gardens
This 4.4-km walk takes you to a number of interesting university buildings including educational, research,administrative, and student facilities from different centuries. You will also pass a couple of parks, including the botanical gardens, where there is a café (C) where you can have a fuel stop. The starting point is Ekonomikum (E) and key places are marked on the map (1-5) and described below.
Self Guided Tour 2: Residential Architecture
This 4-km-long tour walks you through the central parts of Uppsala to Fålhagen, a residential neighborhood with many of the city architect Gunnar Leche’s (1891-1954) best works. We cover different architectural epochs ranging from classicism and national romanticism to postmodernism. The starting point is Ekonomikum (E). First, visit Gustavianum (G) with its anatomical theater. Enter with your free ticket and plan to spend up to an hour here. Then the walk begins, with a suggested coffee break in Uppsala Konsert and Kongress (4). Key places are marked out on the map (G, and 1-6) and described separately below.
Self Guided Tour 3: Lakeside Stroll and Swimming
Enjoy an afternoon at Lake Mälaren! After visiting Gustavianum with its anatomical theater, take a local bus to the lake where you can stroll around in the surrounding nature and/or bathe (bring your own swimming suit and towel , and only recommended for participants that can swim, although the waters are calm!). Free tickets to Gustavianum and the local bus are included. The first map shows the city center where you can find Ekonomikum (E), Gustavianum (G), and the bus stop(B). The second map shows the Sunnersta neighborhood where you can find the lake.
